A photo I took in Tavira, Portugal, of a sloppily painted wall covered in years-old dried paint splatters from a wild, careless job. I saw beauty in its worn look and wanted to transform it into something appealing.

In ancient Tavira, Moorish Princess Séiqua and Christian knight Gilão fell in forbidden love during the Reconquista. They met secretly on the river bridge until discovery forced them to leap into the waters—Séqua upstream, Gilão downstream. Their spirits united forever, giving the river its dual names: Séqua and Gilão. Tavira endures as their eternal legacy.
